We are still enjoying our smoker. I love finding and trying all kinds of different recipes for it. My latest adventure was making smoked chicken tacos along with some smoked queso. Today, I’m sharing how to make the tacos and on Thursday I will share the recipe for the queso.
Tacos are such a versatile meal to add to your menu. We really loved these smoked chicken tacos and the added flavor you get from the smoker. We did have leftovers and I ended up using that to make quesadillas. They were also delicious.
Ingredients to make Smoked Chicken Tacos
- BONELESS SKINLESS CHICKEN BREASTS
- TACO SEASONING
- SALSA
How to Make Smoked Chicken Tacos
To make these tacos, you will place 4 chicken breasts into an aluminum foil pan. Now, I keep a stock of the half sized version on hand. I get the big package from Sam’s Club. I also used one of these pans for the queso recipe I will be sharing. They really are a staple item to keep on hand if you have a smoker.
Next, you need to season the chicken with a package of taco seasoning. You can rub it on or sprinkle it on. Either way will get the job done. Then you will pour 2 cups of your favorite salsa over the chicken. I love this because it helps to keep the chicken nice and moist, but it also smokes the salsa. Since you have salsa with the chicken you won’t need to serve it as a topping for the tacos.
Now just place the pan of chicken on the smoker at 230 degrees for about 3 hours or until the chicken reaches 165 degrees. Remove the chicken from the pan and shred it. Then place the chicken back in the pan and place it back on the smoker for 30 more minutes. This helps get even more smoke flavor into that chicken.
After that, all that is left to do it serve it up on some tortillas with your favorite toppings. I personally love it on corn tortillas. These are fresh and full of flavor, making for the perfect family meal.
