Provolone Cheese Sauce for Cheesesteaks

by Laura

I love it good cheesesteak sandwich. It’s probably my most favorite hot sandwich. There is always the debate of the proper way to make a cheesesteak. One of those points is over serving it with provolne cheese or that melty orange cheese sauce. Well, todays recipe is a nice compromise for that cheesy debate. It is a recipe for provolone cheese sauce for cheesesteaks.

I’m sure you can think of other great uses for this cheese sauce but the primary use for it is to spoon over those delicious cheesesteak sandwiches.

Now the easy way to make a tasty cheesesteak sandwich is to go the freezer isle at the grocery store. This is a frozen product. You can get thinly sliced beef for cheesesteaks. You can find them at most stores. One brand I can often find is calle Steakum. However, Walmart also has it in these Great Value brand. They cook up in a skillet in minutes. I like to add a little garlic salt and pepper to the meat.

Then in another pan, a melt a little butter and cook the peppers, onions, and mushrooms there until tender. Then you just need your favorite bread.

Last, you make this tasty cheese sauce to top the whole thing with. You just need butter, flour, milk, and provolone cheese. You are making a basic white sauce. The you add in the cheese and melt to combine. Oh, such tasty cheesy goodness!
