Miner Marinade

Now that you have the garlic mashed potatoes ready, I wanted to share how I prepared the steak that paired perfectly with them. I used a flavorful Miner Marinade, a recipe from Marci at On My Menu. She swears by this marinade and often uses it on chicken, but I decided to try it on steaks, and the results were fantastic!

When it comes to steak, I almost always buy petite sirloin steaks—they’re affordable, tender, and full of flavor. I usually find them on sale for around $1.99 per pound, making them a great option for a delicious meal without breaking the bank. For this recipe, I cooked four steaks and only made half of the marinade recipe, which was the perfect amount to infuse them with rich, savory goodness. The steaks turned out juicy and flavorful, and next time, I’ll definitely be trying this marinade on chicken to see how it compares!

Mix the Marinade: In a bowl, whisk together all the ingredients until well combined.

Marinate the Meat: Place your meat of choice in a shallow dish or resealable bag. Pour the marinade over the meat, ensuring it’s fully coated. Cover and refrigerate overnight for maximum flavor.

Grill to Perfection: Remove the meat from the marinade and grill according to the recommended cooking time for your specific cut.

Serve & Enjoy: Let the meat rest for a few minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite sides and enjoy the rich, smoky flavors!

What types of meat work best with this marinade?
This marinade is versatile and works well with steak, chicken, pork, and even vegetables. It adds bold flavor and helps tenderize tougher cuts of meat.

How long should I marinate the meat?
For best results, marinate overnight to allow the flavors to fully absorb. If you’re short on time, marinate for at least 4 hours.

Can I use this marinade for grilling and baking?
Yes! This marinade enhances flavor whether you’re grilling, baking, or pan-searing your meat. Just be sure to discard excess marinade before cooking.

Can I make the marinade ahead of time?
Absolutely! Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Give it a quick stir before using.

Do I need to adjust the marinade for different meats?
No major adjustments are needed, but for chicken, you can add a splash of lemon juice for extra brightness.

Can I freeze meat in the marinade?
Yes! Place the meat and marinade in a freezer-safe bag and freeze for up to 3 months. When ready to cook, thaw in the fridge overnight.

Should I pat the meat dry before cooking?
Yes, lightly patting the meat dry helps create a better sear and prevents excess moisture from steaming the meat instead of browning it.

  4. 5 stars
I used this marinade last night on pork chops; I only planned ahead enough for them to marinate about 90 minutes but they still turned out really good! My family loved it. Nice flavor.

  5. Look at those pretty grill marks! This sounds like a simple and delicious marinade. I love steak, though I try not to eat it more than twice a month. I’d eat it every day if I could, though.
