If you’re in the mood to fire up the grill, today’s recipe is a mouthwatering way to make the most of steak season. This Delicious Steak Marinade comes together with simple pantry staples and packs a flavorful punchβ€”perfectly enhancing the natural richness of the beef. It yields more than enough to marinate up to six steaks, but you can easily scale it up for a larger crowd or meal prep for the week ahead.

For this batch, I used petite sirloinsβ€”my go-to cut for weeknight grilling. They’re just the right size, cook quickly, and always taste incredibly juicy and tender when paired with the best steak marinade. Whether you’re hosting a weekend cookout or just keeping dinner low-key, this recipe delivers so much flavor with minimal effort.

So grab those steaks, brush off the grill, and enjoy every last bite while the warm weather sticks around. There’s no better excuse to soak up a little sun and serve up something sizzling.

  • SOY SAUCE
  • OLIVE OIL
  • LEMON JUICE
  • WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
  • GARLIC POWDER
  • DRIED BASIL
  • DRIED PARSLEY FLAKES
  • PEPPER
  • FRESH GARLIC
  • PETITE SIRLOIN STEAKS

Start by placing all the marinade ingredients into a large gallon-size zip-top bagβ€”this makes cleanup a breeze and ensures even coating.

Add your steaks to the bag, seal it well, and gently massage to distribute the marinade throughout. Make sure every piece is coated for maximum flavor.

Pop the bag into the refrigerator and let the steaks marinate for at least 4 hoursβ€”overnight works great too if you’re planning ahead! I like to prep it in the morning so it’s ready to grill by dinnertime.

When you’re ready to cook, remove the steaks from the marinade and grill to your preferred doneness. Then sit back, slice in, and enjoy every juicy, flavorful bite!

How long should I marinate the steak?
For best flavor and tenderness, marinate the steak for at least 4 hours, or up to overnight. If you’re short on time, even 1–2 hours will still add great flavor.

Can I use this marinade on other cuts of beef?
Absolutely! This marinade works beautifully on petite sirloins, ribeyes, flank steak, skirt steak, and even chicken or pork. Just adjust marinating time based on the cut and thickness.

Do I need to poke holes in the steak before marinating?
Not necessary. The marinade is flavorful enough to penetrate the surface, especially with thinner cuts. If you’re using a thicker steak, you can lightly score it for deeper flavor infusion.

Can I make the marinade ahead of time?
Yes! You can mix the marinade up to 3 days in advance and store it in the fridge. Just give it a good shake or stir before using.

Is it safe to reuse the marinade for basting?
Only if you set some aside before adding the raw meat. Never reuse marinade that’s been in contact with raw steak unless you boil it first to kill any bacteria.

Can I freeze the steak in the marinade?
Definitely! Combine the steak and marinade in a freezer-safe bag and freeze for up to 3 months. Thaw overnight in the fridge before grilling.

What’s the best way to cook the marinated steak?
Grilling is ideal for that smoky char, but you can also use a cast iron skillet or broil it in the oven. Just be sure to pat the steak dry before cooking to get a good sear.

What should I serve with this steak?
Try pairing it with garlic mashed potatoes, grilled veggies, corn on the cob, or a fresh green salad. It’s also great sliced over rice bowls or tucked into wraps.

This is a top notch tenderizing marinade, the whole family loved the flavor. We all agreed to skip the store bought bottles and packets and use this marinade from now on. One nibble and you’re hooked.

  5. This is the best steak marinade I’ve ever tried! It did make the petite sirloins much more tender than they usually are, and I loved the combination of basil & lemon. I’ll definitely keep this recipe and use it again!
