Another idea I had for my bounty of ripe peaches was to make waffles topped with fresh peach slices and cream. This led to the creation of these Peaches and Cream Waffles. The base of the dish is a simple waffle recipe that I love, but to make it extra special, I added cinnamon and almond extract to the batter. These subtle additions complement the natural sweetness and flavor of the peaches beautifully, giving the waffles a hint of warmth and nuttiness.

To assemble, I topped each warm waffle with slices of fresh, juicy peaches. A sprinkle of brown sugar over the peaches adds a slight crunch and extra sweetness that enhances the fruit’s flavor. If you want your peaches to be more saucy, you can mix them with a bit of sugar and allow them to macerate for 30 minutes before using.

Finally, I whipped up a batch of homemade whipped cream, adding powdered sugar and almond extract for a light and creamy topping that brings the whole dish together. This combination of flavors and textures makes for a perfect peachy breakfast.

In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine the heavy whipping cream, powdered sugar, and almond extract. Beat the mixture until soft peaks form. Once the whipped cream is ready, place it in the fridge to chill until it’s time to serve.

In a large bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, baking powder, salt, sugar, and cinnamon. This mixture will give the waffles a warm, flavorful base that complements the peaches.

In a separate bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: milk, eggs, and almond extract. The almond extract adds a subtle nutty flavor that pairs wonderfully with the sweetness of the peaches.

Add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, whisking just until combined. Be careful not to overmix, as this can make the waffles dense. Stir in the melted butter to give the batter richness and moisture.

Preheat your waffle iron according to the manufacturer’s instructions. For regular waffles, use about 1/2 cup of batter per waffle, and for Belgian waffles, use around 1 cup of batter. Cook the waffles until they’re golden brown and crisp. This recipe makes about 6 regular waffles or 3 Belgian waffles.

To serve, place warm waffles on a plate and top it with fresh peach slices. Sprinkle a little brown sugar over the peaches for added sweetness and texture. Finally, add a generous dollop of whipped cream on top.

Enjoy your delicious, homemade Peaches and Cream Waffles for breakfast or brunch, making the most of fresh, juicy peaches and warm, cinnamon-infused waffles!

Can I use store-bought whipped cream instead of homemade?
Yes, store-bought whipped cream works perfectly fine if you want to save time. However, homemade whipped cream with the almond extract adds a fresher, richer flavor to the recipe.

Can I add other toppings to the waffles?
Absolutely! Feel free to add toppings like maple syrup, honey, toasted almonds, or even a drizzle of caramel sauce for extra indulgence. A sprinkle of cinnamon or nutmeg also enhances the flavor of the peaches and waffles.

Can I substitute the almond extract with something else?
If you’re not a fan of almond extract, you can easily substitute it with vanilla extract for a more classic flavor.

What type of waffle iron works best for this recipe?
Any type of waffle iron will work for this recipe, whether it’s a regular waffle iron or a Belgian waffle maker. Just adjust the batter quantity accordingly—about 1/2 cup for regular waffles and 1 cup for Belgian waffles.

How can I make this recipe gluten-free?
To make the waffles gluten-free, simply substitute the all-purpose flour with a gluten-free flour blend. Be sure that the blend includes xanthan gum or another binding agent to maintain the waffle’s texture.
