Looking for a fun and refreshing twist on traditional fruit dips? This Margarita Fruit Dip is a must-try for summer! I originally discovered it in the It’s Summer issue from Betty Crocker, and it quickly became a favorite in my kitchen. Unlike most fruit dips that lean toward being overly sweet, this one offers a delightful tangy balance thanks to the addition of margarita mix. The zesty lime-infused flavor pairs beautifully with fresh strawberries, creating a bright, citrusy bite that’s perfect for warm-weather gatherings.

This dip is effortless to make, requiring only a few ingredients, and is ideal for serving at barbecues, pool parties, or casual get-togethers. Whether you’re dipping juicy strawberries, pineapple slices, or crisp apple wedges, it elevates your fruit platter with a refreshing tropical vibe. Light, flavorful, and irresistibly creamy, this Margarita Fruit Dip is a delicious way to bring a little summer sunshine to your table!

I have found it hard to find the frozen margarita mix sometimes. In that case, I have used 1/3 cup of margarita mix from the drink aisle at the store. It’s not as sweet and thick as the frozen mix, but it still works. I just taste the dip and add a little powdered sugar if needed.

Sometimes, finding frozen margarita mix can be a bit tricky, especially if your local store is out of stock. When that happens, an easy substitute is using 1/4 cup of margarita mix from the drink aisle—the kind that’s typically used for cocktails. While this version isn’t as sweet or thick as the frozen concentrate, it still adds the signature lime flavor that makes the dip so refreshing.

If you find that your dip isn’t quite as sweet or tangy as you’d like, simply adjust the flavor by mixing in a little powdered sugar to balance the acidity and enhance the richness. Start with a teaspoon at a time, tasting as you go, until the flavor hits that perfect margarita-inspired note. This substitution ensures that you can still enjoy this fun, citrusy dip, even when frozen margarita mix isn’t available!

Whip Up the Base: In a large mixing bowl, combine softened cream cheese, margarita mix, orange juice, and freshly grated lime peel. Using an electric mixer on low speed, blend the ingredients until completely smooth and creamy.

Prepare the Whipped Cream: In a separate chilled bowl, beat heavy whipping cream on high speed until stiff peaks form. This step adds a light, airy texture to the dip.

Fold & Chill: Gently fold the whipped cream into the cream cheese mixture, ensuring a smooth and fluffy consistency. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour to allow the flavors to meld.

Serve & Enjoy: Spoon the chilled dip into a serving bowl and pair it with fresh strawberries for a fun and refreshing treat! It is also delicious with pineapple or other fruits.

  17. I had almost all the ingredients for this, all except the margarita mix! So I had to improvise, I used limeade (the real stuff-not the koolaid green kind) with a small splash of tequila and triple sec (maybe 1/2 tsp of each). Then I mixed up all the other ingredients just like the recipe said. This was a very tasty, grown up kind of dip. It tasted great on strawberries and I used the leftovers (just a couple of tablespoons) on a waffle. Thanks a bunch for the recipe.
