How to Make Instant Pot Goulash recipe
Start by using your sauté mode on the Instant Pot to brown some ground beef along with some onion. Cook the beef until it’s fully cooked, then remove any excess grease. Then, stir in the tomato paste.
Now, turn the Instant Pot off and add in the tomato sauce, petite diced tomatoes, and chicken broth. You also add in the spices which include Italian seasoning, salt, and Worcestershire sauce. Mix this all together.
Add the macaroni noodles and press them down to completely cover them with the liquid. You need to do this so all the noodles will cook. Secure the lid to seal the pot. Cook for 7 minutes on high pressure.
When it finishes cooking, do a quick release with the valve to vent. Remove the lid and give it all a good stir. Add in the shredded cheddar cheese and stir until completely melted. Now, it’s time to enjoy this delicious dish!

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use a different type of meat besides ground beef?
Yes, you can substitute ground turkey, ground chicken, or even ground sausage for the ground beef in this recipe to suit your preferences.
Do I need to cook the pasta separately before adding it to the Instant Pot?
No. One of the beauties of this recipe is that the pasta cooks directly in the Instant Pot along with the other ingredients. Just be sure to use a sturdy pasta shape like elbow macaroni or penne that can hold up to pressure cooking.
How do I prevent the pasta from becoming mushy?
To prevent overcooked pasta, follow the cooking time in the recipe and use a quick release method after cooking. You can also slightly undercook the pasta if you prefer it al dente.
Can I use different types of pasta for this recipe?
You can use different pasta shapes like penne, rotini, or farfalle instead of elbow macaroni for goulash. Just keep in mind that different shapes may require slight adjustments to the cooking time.
Can I make this recipe on the stovetop instead of using an Instant Pot?
Yes, you can certainly adapt this recipe for stovetop cooking. Simply follow the same steps, but instead of pressure cooking in the Instant Pot, simmer the ingredients in a large pot on the stovetop until the pasta is cooked through and the flavors have melded together. Adjust the cooking time and liquid as needed.
