Today, I am sharing my version of the viral TikTok recipe for cookie dough croissants (AKA Crookies). This fun and indulgent dessert is so simple to make. It combines buttery, flaky, store-bought bakery croissants with ooey, gooey chocolate chip cookie dough. It’s the perfect combination of textures.

You could totally make your favorite chocolate chip cookie dough for this recipe. However, I think the beauty of this recipe is its simplicity. Using store-bought cookie dough makes it a cinch to whip up this sweet treat in no time at all.

Not only does the croissant have gooey cookie dough in the center, but it also has crunchy cookie dough bits on the top. It’s finished off with a dusting of powdered sugar. However, feel free to take it up a notch by adding a drizzle of chocolate or caramel syrup or even with a scoop of vanilla ice cream.

Baking the croissants freshens them like they just came out of the oven for the first time. They are lightly crispy on the outside and flaky tender on the inside. Add the warm, gooey cookie dough on the inside, along with the crispy bits of cookie dough on top. Such an easy and heavenly dessert!

Now, you could make these cookie dough croissants using mini croissants. The process is the same, but you’ll use smaller portions of cookie dough to fit the size of the mini croissants. Follow the same baking instructions, keeping an eye on them since they may bake more quickly than full-sized croissants. This option is great for bite-sized treats or appetizers, and they make a fun dessert for parties or gatherings!

  • BREAK AND BAKE COOKIE DOUGH

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to prepare it for baking.

Slice the croissants in half lengthwise, but don’t cut all the way through. Leave one side attached so they hold together when stuffed.

Flatten 2 cookie dough squares and place them inside each croissant, spreading them evenly for a gooey center.

Take 2 additional squares of cookie dough, flatten it, and break it into smaller pieces. Place these pieces on top of each croissant for added cookie goodness.

Place the filled croissants on a baking sheet and bake for 8-12 minutes, or until golden brown and the cookie dough has just begun to melt.

Serve the crookies warm, and for an extra touch, dust the baked croissants with powdered sugar. These treats are best enjoyed right out of the oven for that perfect combination of flaky croissant and melty cookie dough.

Can I use different flavors of cookie dough?
Yes, you can experiment with different flavors of cookie dough. Classic chocolate chip is a favorite, but you can also try sugar cookie dough, peanut butter, oatmeal raisin, or even seasonal flavors like pumpkin spice.

Can I use homemade cookie dough instead of store-bought?
Yes, you can definitely use homemade cookie dough. Just make sure the dough is chilled in the fridge before flattening it to place inside the croissants. The type of dough doesn’t matter—whether it’s chocolate chip, peanut butter, or snickerdoodle, it will work beautifully.

Should I line the baking sheet before baking?
It isn’t necessary to line your baking sheet with parchment paper or use a silicone baking mat. However, doing so will help prevent any cookie dough from sticking and make cleanup easier.

Can I add other toppings or fillings?
Absolutely! You can sprinkle chocolate chips, chopped nuts, or even drizzle caramel or chocolate sauce over the top after baking. For extra indulgence, serve them with ice cream or a side of whipped cream.

How long can I store leftover cookie croissants?
Crookies are best enjoyed fresh out of the oven, but if you have leftovers, you can store them in an airtight storage container for up to 2 days. Reheat them in the oven or air fryer to regain the crispiness and warm the cookie dough inside.

Can I make crookies in an air fryer?
Yes, you can! Simply preheat your air fryer to 320°F and cook the crookies for about 6-8 minutes. Keep an eye on them to ensure the cookie dough melts and the croissant turns golden brown.
