If you’re craving a quick fall-inspired treat, these Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites are a must-try. The best part? You only need three simple ingredients to whip them up!

To start, you’ll need pretzels, but not just any kind—these require the waffle-shaped variety. Depending on the brand, they may be labeled as “waffles” or “snaps.” I often use Snyder’s brand, which is easy to find in my local stores. Other options like Rold Gold or Ultz also work well. If you’re feeling adventurous, you might want to try pretzel crisps, though I haven’t tested those yet—something to experiment with that should also work well!

Next, grab some wrapped caramels. Kraft or Werther’s are typical go-to’s, but I personally prefer Mrs. Call’s Sea Salt Caramels from Costco. They’re also available on Amazon. The Mrs. Call’s caramels are a bit larger, so you’ll need to cut them in half before using them. They also melt quicker in the oven, which can speed up the process.

Finally, you’ll need apples to add that fresh, sweet element. Granny Smith is a classic choice for caramel apples, but Honeycrisp, Gala, or Fuji apples are equally delicious options, depending on your preference for sweetness and crunch.

These three simple ingredients come together to create the perfect bite-sized fall treat! The combination of sweet caramel, salty pretzels, and fresh apples offers a delightful contrast in flavors and textures.

You get a satisfying mix of sweetness from the caramel, a touch of saltiness from the crunchy pretzels, and a refreshing crunch from the apple slices, making each bite incredibly balanced and irresistible. Whether you’re looking for a quick snack or an easy party treat, these caramel apple pretzel bites are the ultimate way to enjoy all the flavors of fall in one delicious bite!

Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and make cleanup easier. Lay the waffle-shaped pretzel snaps in neat rows on the sheet, giving them enough space for the caramel to spread.

Unwrap the caramels and place one on top of each pretzel. If you’re using Mrs. Call’s caramels, which are a bit larger, cut each caramel in half before placing them on the pretzel to ensure the right portion size.

Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C) while you prepare the apples. Cut the apples into small chunks.

Place the cookie sheet with the pretzels and caramels in the preheated 250°F oven and bake for about 3-4 minutes, or until the caramels have softened but not completely melted.

Remove the pretzels from the oven and immediately press a small piece of apple into the soft caramel on each pretzel. The heat from the caramel will help hold the apple in place.

Let the caramel apple pretzel bites cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before removing them. Once they’ve set, they’re ready to enjoy. This recipe makes 44 bites. Enjoy these delightful Caramel Apple Pretzel Bites for a perfect fall combination of sweet, salty, and crunchy goodness!

If you prefer not to use traditional caramels, there are several alternatives that can still give you that sweet, sticky element in your Apple Pretzel Bites:

  1. Peanut Butter Cups: These can add a creamy, nutty flavor that pairs well with apples. Simply place a mini peanut butter cup on each pretzel and melt slightly in the oven.
  2. Chocolate: Melted chocolate chips, especially white or milk chocolate, can be used as an additional sweet topping. After baking, drizzle melted chocolate over the bites. Once you add the drizzle of chocolate, you can even sprinkle on chopped nuts or toffee bits, too. Or skip the caramels and use a Hershey’s Kiss instead.
  3. Rolos: Rolo candies are a great substitute for caramels in these bites! Rolos have a combination of both caramel and chocolate, which can give your bites an extra layer of flavor.
  4. Marshmallows: You can also substitute the caramels with mini marshmallows. They melt quickly and add a gooey texture that pairs well with apples and pretzels.
