Your taste buds will be delighted by the sweet and creamy texture of this brown sugar apple dip. The caramel-like flavor pairs perfectly with crisp, fresh apples, making it nearly impossible to resist reaching for another slice.

You only need three simple ingredients to make this delicious brown sugar apple dip! It combines a brick of cream cheese with some brown sugar and a little vanilla extract. It’s easy to whip up this luscious caramel dip, which delivers a nice caramel flavor without making caramel. This dip is a true crowd-pleaser and perfect for any fall gathering.

  • CREAM CHEESE – Cream cheese gives the dip its thick, creamy base and adds a slight tang that balances the sweetness. Let it soften first so it blends smoothly.
  • BROWN SUGAR – Brown sugar sweetens the dip and adds a warm caramel-like flavor that pairs especially well with apples.
  • VANILLA EXTRACT – Vanilla adds a little extra warmth and sweetness and helps round out the flavor of the cream cheese and brown sugar.

Now, I like to use an apple slicing tool to get perfectly proportioned apple slices for dipping. A regular apple slicer cuts the apple into 8 slices, while this slicer cuts it into 16. I think this makes the slices of your favorite apple the perfect size.

Once you have perfect fresh apple slices, make sure they don’t turn brown. My favorite method is using lemon-lime soda. I have found it works well and doesn’t affect the apple’s flavor. I just buy the inexpensive store brand. Then soak the slices in the soda for 10 minutes, then drain.

This recipe also works with fruits other than apples. It’s also excellent with other fresh fruit like strawberries, grapes, pears, and bananas! If it tastes good with caramel, it will taste good with this dip.

Add the cream cheese, brown sugar, and vanilla extract in a medium mixing bowl. Make sure the cream cheese is softened for easier blending.

Using a hand mixer, blend all the ingredients together on medium speed until smooth and creamy. Scrape down the sides of the bowl to ensure everything is evenly mixed.

Transfer the dip to a serving bowl and pair it with fresh, crisp apple slices. Serve this cream cheese fruit dip immediately, or refrigerate for later. This dip is a perfect pairing for a sweet fall snack!

Can I make this dip ahead of time?
Yes, you can make the brown sugar apple dip ahead of time. Store it in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days. Just stir it well before serving, as it may thicken slightly when chilled.

Can I use a substitute for cream cheese?
If you’re looking for a substitute, Greek yogurt or mascarpone can be a creamy alternative to cream cheese. Keep in mind that the texture and flavor will vary slightly, with Greek yogurt giving it a tangier taste.

How do I prevent the apples from turning brown if I don’t have lemon-lime soda?
To prevent the apple slices from browning, you can soak them in a mixture of water and lemon juice (about 1 tablespoon of lemon juice per cup of water) for a few minutes. This will help keep the apples looking fresh.

You can also dissolve 1/2 teaspoon of salt in a cup of cold water. Soak the apple slices in the saltwater solution for about 5 minutes, then rinse them with fresh water. Or dip the apple slices in pineapple juice for a few minutes. Both methods will help keep your apples looking fresh for several hours.

Can I add other ingredients to the dip?
Absolutely! Consider adding a pinch of cinnamon or nutmeg for extra flavor. Some people also like to mix in mini chocolate chips or toffee bits for added texture and sweetness.

Besides fruits, what can I serve with this dip?
This versatile dip pairs well with pretzels, cookies, animal crackers, or graham crackers.

  • Soften the cream cheese first. Room-temperature cream cheese blends much more smoothly with the brown sugar and vanilla, so you get a creamy dip without lumps.
  • Use a hand mixer for the smoothest texture. Beat the ingredients together until completely smooth, and scrape down the sides of the bowl so everything is evenly combined.
  • Keep the apples from browning. After slicing, soak the apples in lemon-lime soda for about 10 minutes, then drain them well. This helps keep them looking fresh without changing the flavor much.
  • Slice the apples fairly thin. Smaller wedges are easier to dip and give you a better balance of crisp apple and creamy dip in each bite.
  • Make the dip ahead if needed. You can prepare it in advance and refrigerate it for up to 3–4 days. Give it a good stir before serving since it may firm up a little in the refrigerator.
