I love serving baked beans as a side dish, but I don’t always like having to bake them. Today’s recipe is a version that is done strictly on the stovetop – no baking needed. They just simmer for a bit on the stovetop. They end up deliciously sweet and saucy.
- 2 Tbsp. butter
- 1/2 cup green pepper, chopped
- 1/2 cup onion, chopped
- 2 (16 oz) cans pork and beans, undrained
- 1 (20 oz) can pineapple tidbits, drained
- 1/2 cup bbq sauce
- 1/4 cup honey
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- In a skillet, melt butter. Add onions and peppers to the butter and cook until tender. Add beans, pineapple, bbq sauce, honey, and brown sugar. Cover and cook over low heat for 20 minutes until thick. Serves 8-10.
