Black forest cake is one of those desserts that I tend to see the most around Christmastime. So why not make black forest waffles for this holiday season!
It looks elaborate but is so simple to make. It all begins with a chocolate waffle and then the toppings is where the magic happens. However, you don’t have to do a thing to make them.
The waffles get drizzled with chocolate syrup followed cherry pie filling and whipped cream. You can make your own whipping cream or in this case, I just used the stuff in the can. You don’t have to do a thing for those toppings except buy them.
- 2 cups flour
- 1/3 cup cocoa powder
- 1/3 cup sugar
- 2 tsp baking powder
- 2 eggs
- 1/3 cup canola oil
- 2 cups buttermilk
- 1 tsp vanilla
- Powdered sugar
- Chocolate syrup
- 1 can cherry pie filling
- Whipped cream
- In large bowl, whisk flour, cocoa powder, sugar and baking powder together.
- Add in eggs, oil, buttermilk and vanilla and stir just until combined.
- Cook in waffle maker according to manufacturers instruction.
- Dust each waffle with powdered sugar and a drizzle of chocolate syrup. Then top with cherry pie filling and whipped cream. Number of waffles will depend on waffle maker.
