Apple Topping and Must Have Apple Recipes for Fall
Fall is my most favorite season of the year. I enjoy the colors of the leaves, the cool chill in the air, and the fun fall clothing. My most favorite part is the holiday’s and the food. Since today is the first day of Fall, I want to celebrate by sharing my must make Fall recipes.
When I think of Fall, I usually think of apple and pumpkin. Today, I am going to share apple recipes that you must try this Fall. Tomorrow, I’ll be back with pumpkin recipes. There is a couple today that do involve both apple and pumpkin together.
Plus, I am sharing a new recipe that I found in the October issue of Wasatch Woman magazine. It’s an apple topping that was with a recipe for German pancakes. I made my recipe for German pancakes and topped it with the apples. I must admit I don’t think the apples went perfectly on the German pancake.
The apple topping itself is great. I just don’t think the German pancake is the best place for it. I do think it would be great on ice cream or on top of pumpkin pancakes, gingerbread pancakes, or Belgian waffles. Give these recipes a try and enjoy the flavors of Fall.
My must have apple recipes for Fall.
- Apple German Pancakes – this recipe is definitely the way to go with a recipe involving apples and German pancakes.
- Apple Pudding Cake – you make this cake from shredded apples, cinnamon, nutmeg, and topped with a delicious pudding sauce.
- Hot Apple Cider – apple cider, cloves, cinnamon, and orange help flavor this wonderful hot drink that simmers in your crock pot.
- Pumpkin Apple Streusel Muffins – This muffin brings together apples and pumpkin. You top it with a sweet streusel.
- Apple Smothered Pork Chops – this is a main dish that is sure to please. It brings together the great flavors of apples and pork.
- Pumpkin Patch Pancakes with Apple Cider Syrup – this recipe starts off with pancake mix that gets the flavors of Fall mixed in. Then you top it off with a delicious homemade syrup made from apple cider.
- Apple Dumplings – who won’t love apples wrapped in crescent dough the drenched in a sugary syrup. Vanilla ice cream is a must to accompany this simple dessert.

Apple Topping
Real Mom Kitchen
Ingredients
- 5 medium Gala or Braeburn apples peeled and diced (I like to use Gala)
- 6 Tbsp butter
- ½ cup packed brown sugar
- cinnamon
Instructions
- In a saute pan, heat butter until melted. Add apples and saute until apples become tender, about 4-5 minutes. Add brown sugar and toss to coat.
- Sprinkle in desired amount of cinnamon and stir. Cook until sugar dissolves to make a caramel like syrup. Serve over top ice cream, waffles, pancakes, or what ever else you like.
I made this to put on top of German pancakes over the weekend and it was so good; such a yummy alternative to syrup or jam!
Then, this morning I heated up the leftover apple topping and mixed it into my oatmeal; wow that was good! Thanks again as always 🙂
