German Apple Pancakes

My family absolutely loves German pancakes, otherwise known as hootenannies, at our house. So when I saw Sharlene Hawkes on KSL’s Studio 5 sharing a recipe for German Apple Pancakes, I had to give them a try. It does require a little more effort than regular German Pancakes with the addition of apples but is well worth it.
I thought it was a nice change from the regular German pancakes and would be great to serve to guests. This one is now in my tried and true file. It’s definitely a must to make in the fall time.
The main difference with this recipe is once the butter is melted, you add in the sliced apple to the pan and sprinkle cinnamon. Then you place it in the oven and let the apples cook while you mix up the batter. Once the batter is ready then you pour it in the pan with the apples. Then it all gets a sprinkling of brown sugar and bakes. The apples, cinnamon, and brown sugar are a welcome addition to this family favorite.
