Slow Cooked Apple Cider

by Laura

When I think of hot drink to warm you up, one of my favorites is a nice hot apple cider. There is just some think about the taste of apples along with warm spices like cinnamon and cloves.

I have stayed at a few hotels that have seasonally had it on hand in their lobby. It definitely helps to warm me up when it’s chilly outside.

Well today’s version is one that is made in a slow cooker. Just add all of the ingredients for this Slow Cooked Apple Cider and get it a few hours in the slow cooker and it’s ready to go!

Slow Cooked Apple Cider

  • 1 (64 oz) container apple juice or apple cider
  • 1/2 cup orange juice
  • 3 Tbsp brown sugar
  • 4 cinnamon sticks
  • 1 tsp whole cloves
  • 1 whole star anise

  1. Combine all of the above ingredients in a slow cooker. For easy removal bundle the anise and cloves in a piece of cheese cloth and tie up with thread. I use a mesh tea ball/infuser like this.
  2. Cover and cook on low for 3 hours. Remove spice and serve. Serves 8.
