The back-to-school hustle is underway and it can be a bit crazy to get dinner on the table. This easy penne rosa is a recipe you are going to be so glad to add to your recipe collection.

Now you may be asking what a rosa sauce is that is used in this easy penne rosa? Well, it’s a delicious combination of a tomato based marinara and a creamy alfredo sauce. The name comes from the Italian word for “pink”, which is the resulting color of this sauce. It’s a great choice that marries the tomato and cream sauces for a twist on the classics.

Now you could serve this sauce over any pasta, but I particularly love using the penne shape. It is cylindrical in shape with angled edges. The angled ends of this shaped pasta allows it for the sauce to cling to it, ensuring flavor in every bit. So start the water for the pasta and then begin to make the sauce.

This sauce begins with cooking a pound of ground beef in a skillet along with some diced onion. Once the beef is fully cooked, you want to drain off any excess grease and then mix in a little minced garlic. Next comes the marinara sauce. Just use your favortite sauce from a jar nd heat through. Then you also add in some cream.

All that’s left to do is serve the sauce over the cooked penne and sprikle with some Parmesan cheese. I also served it with some homemade focaccia bread that’s ready in 90 minutes. That recipe will post on Thursday, so be sure to stop back. It was the perfect thing to use to sop up every last stop of this tasty rosa sauce from my plate.
