Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Pita Pizza

I was recently inspired by another blogger to create a recipe for an easy BBQ pulled pork pita pizza, and I’m so glad I did. It turned out to be the perfect way to use up leftover pork from the loaded BBQ pulled pork and potato bowls I shared last week. I love finding simple ways to repurpose leftovers into something that feels completely new. These personal pizzas are topped with homemade slow cooker pulled pork (though store-bought works great if you need a shortcut), Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ sauce, plenty of shredded cheese, sweet corn, and a sprinkle of green onion for a bright finish.
For the base, pocketless pitas make the perfect ready-made crust for personal-sized pizzas. They’re sturdy enough to hold all the toppings but still bake up with lightly crisp edges and a soft center. I especially love using the Papa Pita brand, which I usually grab at Costco. When I picked some up for this recipe, they were even on sale for $2.99 — making this dinner not only an easy weeknight dinner, but budget-friendly too.

If you don’t want to make your own pulled pork, you can absolutely take a shortcut and pick some up from the store. Many grocery stores carry fully cooked pulled pork in the refrigerated section, which makes this recipe even quicker to pull together on a busy night. You can also switch things up by using chicken instead. Simply shred some rotisserie chicken and toss it with your favorite BBQ sauce for an easy and delicious variation. It’s a great way to customize the recipe based on what you have on hand while still keeping dinner simple and flavorful.
Ingredients for Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Pizza Recipe
- POCKETLESS PITA BREAD
- BBQ SAUCE
- PREPARED BBQ PULLED PORK (I USE THIS RECIPE)
- FROZEN CORN
- SHREDDED CHEESE
- GREEN ONION
Instructions for Easy BBQ Pulled Pork Pita Pizzas
Preheat your oven to 425 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup. Place the pocketless pitas on the prepared baking pan in a single layer.
Start by spreading a light, even layer of BBQ sauce over each pita. You don’t need too much — just enough to coat the surface and add flavor. Next, sprinkle shredded cheese evenly over each one, making sure it reaches close to the edges for that perfectly melty finish.

Top each pita with about ¼ cup of BBQ pulled pork, spreading it out so every bite gets a little bit of that smoky flavor. Add a sprinkle of frozen corn and sliced green onions over the top for a pop of sweetness and color.
Bake in the preheated oven for about 10 minutes, or until the cheese is fully melted and the edges of the pitas are lightly golden and crisp. Once out of the oven, let them cool for a minute or two, then slice each pizza into four wedges and serve warm.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use store-bought pulled pork?
Yes! Fully cooked pulled pork from the grocery store works perfectly and makes this recipe even faster. Just warm it slightly and toss it with BBQ sauce before adding it to the pizzas.
Can I use rotisserie chicken instead?
Absolutely. Shred rotisserie chicken and mix it with BBQ sauce for an easy BBQ chicken pita pizza variation.
What if I can’t find pocketless pitas?
You can use naan, flatbread, or even flour tortillas as a substitute. Just adjust the bake time slightly depending on thickness.
Should I thaw the frozen corn first?
It’s not necessary. The corn will heat through while the pizzas bake, making this recipe even simpler.
Can I make these ahead of time?
You can prep the toppings in advance, but for the best results, assemble and bake just before serving so the pita stays crisp.
How do I store leftovers?
Store leftover slices in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or air fryer for the best texture.

Tips & Tricks for the Best BBQ Pita Pizza
- Don’t overload the sauce. A light layer keeps the pita from getting soggy.
- Pre-bake for extra crispiness. If you prefer a crispier crust, bake the plain pita for 3–4 minutes before adding toppings.
- Use freshly shredded cheese. It melts more smoothly and gives better coverage.
- Want more flavor? Add thinly sliced red onion or a drizzle of ranch dressing after baking.
- Turn it into a pizza bar. Let everyone build their own for an easy family dinner.
