With Thanksgiving less than 2 weeks, Ihave a Butterball turkey giveaway for ya!
I must admit, I am a little stressed out because it will be the first year that I will be hosting Thanksgiving at my house. Hopefully, all my planning and preparing a head of time will pay off, but if needed, I can always get some help.
Home cooks are searching more than ever before online for holiday cooking help. So this year, Butterball has created the “search engine” of Thanksgiving. Butterball is embracing the use of technology in the kitchen, upgrading Butterball.com to be your go-to turkey search engine offering 30+ years’ worth of tips, recipes, how-to videos and more.
There’s nothing they can’t answer. Just “Butterball It” at Butterball.com for all of your holiday cooking needs. When you “Butterball It,” you know you’ll be getting the best advice, because the power behind Butterball It is the 30+ years of wisdom from the experts at the Butterball Turkey Talk-Line.
I actually used the Turkey Talk-Line one year when I was trying to deep fry a turkey for my family! They were right there to help me out. You can still give them a call if you prefer. Just call 1-800-BUTTERBALL during specified hours. Just visit the site for all the times you can call.
I love that I can go to Butterball’s website to plan the perfect amount of servings needed for my meal in their perfect portion planner. Just plug in the amount of adults and kids you plan on serving into the planner. There are boxes you can check to say we want leftovers, we are big eaters, or we are light eaters. Then, it will tell you the size of turkey you need along with the amount of stuffing. So simple.
You can also put in the size of turkey and you can calculate the amount of time needed to thaw the turkey. I have already figure when I need to pull my bird into the fridge!
Butterball is helping get 2 lucky RMK readers set for Thanksgiving with a $20 turkey certificate. I love to use Butterball turkeys. The really can be placed in the oven just with some salt and pepper and turn out amazing. However, they are even better if you want to do something a little more fancy. See the rafflecopter widget below to enter.

Mashed potatoes all the way!
My favorite is the corn casserole (the one that uses jiffy corn mix). We make it the day before and slice it one inch thick and 2 1/2 inches long while it is still cold. The we fry it in butter until it is crispy and browned on the outside and creamy on the inside. The whole family loves it.
My favorite Thanksgiving side is the stuffing.
I love the stuffing.
I’m all over the roasted sweet potatoes and parsnips. My family puts them into a big Corningware casserole dish and just roasts them with a bit of melted butter and OJ poured on top to keep them from drying out. No marshmallows, no brown sugar, just pure root vegetable goodness. Yum.
My favorite side dish is candied yams, promarily because this is the only time of year when we eat them.
Our favorite side dish for Thanksgiving has been my sister-in-laws ‘scalloped (creamed) corn bread’ – everyone just DEVOURS IT!!!
