  • GROUND BEEF
  • MINI FARFALLE OR MINI BOWTIE PASTA
  • SPAGHETTI SAUCE
  • OLIVE OIL
  • SALT
  • GARLIC POWDER
  • ITALIAN SEASONING
  • MOZZARELLA CHEESE
  • SOUR CREAM
  • PARMESAN CHEESE

Brown the Ground Beef: In a large skillet over medium heat, brown ground beef until it’s fully cooked through. Drain any excess fat.

Cook the Pasta: Meanwhile, cook the mini pasta on the stove top according to the package directions. Mini pasta cooks quickly, in about 7 minutes, making it a perfect choice for this recipe.

Combine Pasta with Olive Oil: Once the pasta is cooked, drain it and return it to the pot. Toss the pasta with olive oil to prevent sticking and add a light flavor.

Add Spaghetti Sauce: Pour the spaghetti sauce into the pot with the pasta and stir well to coat all the noodles evenly.

Mix in Additional Ingredients: Add the meat mixture, seasonings, shredded mozzarella cheese, and sour cream to the pot. Fold everything together gently.

Cook Until Cheese is Melted: Continue to cook over low heat, stirring occasionally, until the cheese is fully melted and the mixture is creamy and well combined.

Serve: Serve the creamy beef and pasta skillet hot, and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese if desired for an extra touch of flavor.

Can I use a different type of pasta?
Yes, you can substitute bow tie pasta with other types of pasta like penne, rotini, or even regular lasagna noodles broken into smaller pieces. The cooking time might vary slightly, so adjust accordingly.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?
Absolutely! You can prepare the dish up to the point before baking, cover it, and place in the fridge for up to 24 hours. When ready to serve, simply reheat it on the stove or in the oven until it’s warmed through and the cheese is melted.

Can I add more vegetables to this recipe?
Definitely! Feel free to add more vegetables like bell peppers, zucchini, mushrooms, or spinach. Sauté them with the onions and garlic before adding the ground beef for extra flavor and nutrition.

How do I store leftovers?
Store any leftover Bow Tie Skillet Lasagna in an airtight container in the refrigerator. It will keep well for up to 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or on the stove until heated through.

Can I use ground turkey or chicken instead of ground beef?
Yes, you can substitute ground beef with ground turkey or chicken for a lighter version of this dish. The cooking time remains the same. You can even use Italian sausage for a more flavorful option.

  1. Just made this with the slight variation that I didn’t realize i was out of mozzarella, so I added 1/4 cup of pimiento cheese spread, and 1/4 cup of grated parmesan instead, saving the shredded parmesan for the garnish. Fantastic!

  7. This looks awesome! Would leaving the sour cream out ruin the recipe? My husband doesn’t like sour cream and usually when I make Lasanga we leave the ricotta part out. Thanks!
