If you’re looking for a quick and crowd-pleasing dish to bring to your next summer gathering, this Berry Fluff Jello Salad is a must-try! It comes together in minutes and showcases the best of the season with a colorful mix of fresh berries like strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. The creamy base—made with cottage cheese, mini marshmallows, whipped topping, and strawberry Jello mix —adds a sweet, tangy flavor and a light, fluffy texture that feels more like dessert than salad.
One of my favorite things about this recipe is the cottage cheese, which not only adds richness but also sneaks in a boost of protein to balance out the sweetness. Whether you’re hosting a backyard BBQ, heading to a potluck, or just craving something refreshing, this berry fluff dessert salad is a nostalgic, no-bake treat that’s as pretty as it is delicious.

This berry fluff salad can also be served in a way that fits the occasion. For a casual gathering or buffet-style meal, present it in one large, colorful bowl—it creates a stunning centerpiece and makes it easy for guests to serve themselves. If you’re serving it at a sit-down meal or want to add a touch of elegance, spoon the fluff into individual dessert cups or small bowls for a polished, personal presentation that highlights those juicy berries and creamy goodness.

Ingredients for Strawberry Fluff Salad Recipe
Mix the Jello and Whipped Topping – In a large bowl, combine whipped topping (like Cool Whip) with dry Jello mix—strawberry, raspberry, or cherry all work beautifully. My family prefers the strawberry. Stir until the mixture is smooth and the Jello powder is fully incorporated.
Add the Cottage Cheese – Next, add the cottage cheese to the bowl and mix well. This adds a creamy texture and a boost of protein, balancing the sweetness with a subtle tang.
Choose Your Marshmallow Texture – If you prefer soft, pillowy marshmallows, stir in the miniature marshmallows now so they have time to soften as the salad chills. If you like them firmer and chewy, wait and fold them in just before serving.
Fold in the Fresh Berries – Gently fold in the fresh mixed berries—such as strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, and blackberries. Be careful not to overmix to keep the berries whole and the salad fluffy.
Chill & Garnish – Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for at least 2 hours to allow the flavors to meld and the texture to set. Just before serving, garnish with a few extra berries for a pop of color and freshness.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can I use sugar-free Jello in this recipe?
Yes! Sugar-free Jello works well and is a great option if you’re looking to reduce the overall sugar content. Just make sure the flavor complements your berries.
What kind of cottage cheese should I use?
Small curd, full-fat cottage cheese gives the best texture and richness. You can use low-fat versions, but the salad may be slightly less creamy.
Can I substitute Greek yogurt for the cottage cheese?
You can! Greek yogurt adds a tangy flavor and creamy texture. Use full-fat plain Greek yogurt for the closest match.
Can I use frozen berries instead of fresh?
Fresh berries are ideal for texture and appearance. If using frozen, thaw and drain them well to avoid excess moisture that can make the salad runny.
How far in advance can I make this salad?
You can make it up to 24 hours ahead. Just keep it covered and in the refrigerator. If adding marshmallows, decide whether you want them soft (add early) or firm (add just before serving).
