Simple Banana Cream Pie

This post may contain affiliate links. Read our disclosure policy.

I decided to share another pie recipe with you today.  This is a simple banana cream pie recipe that I slightly adapted from a recipe I found through Taste of Home.  There is no reason you can’t make a pie with this easy recipe.  It’s that easy and it is a family favorite.  You really can’t loose.

This banana pie is made with a Nilla wafer crust, so it’s kind of along the lines of a southern banana pudding but in pie form. However, you can always opt for a regular pie crust or even a graham cracker crust if you want to. It will still taste amazing.

Ingredients

  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 3.4 oz pkg instant vanilla pudding mix
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 1 8 oz container frozen whipped topping
  • 1 9 in nilla wafer cracker crust (graham cracker or a regular prepared pie shell work too)
  • 3 medium firm bananas sliced
  • ½ cup whipping cream
  • 1 heaping Tbsp. powdered sugar
  • Additional banana slices optional

Instructions

  • In a large bowl, beat the milk and pudding mix together on low speed for 2 minutes; beat in vanilla. Fold in whipped topping.
  • Pour 1-1/3 cups of the pudding mixture into pie crust. Layer with the 3 bananas cut into slices and remaining pudding mixture.
  • Whip cream and powdered sugar until thick and fluffy. Spread on top of pie.  Garnish with additional banana slices if desired. Refrigerate until serving.  This is best served the same day. Makes 6-8 servings.

This is a great recipe! I’m not even a huge banana fanatic. I made it for my father and my two friends and they all LOVED it…plus me! I even made it kind of fun and put food coloring in it to make the pie a different color!! Great for St. Patrick’s Day (green)…Thanksgiving (Orange)…or Christmas (red)!

I can fix certain easy, toss together meals in a pinch, but by no means any kind of a cook.
But I ran across this site, saw what looked to be a fairly easy to make banana cream pie. I have never made a pie in my life, but decided to try it anyway. I have to admit, it was quick and simple.
My wife was dumbfounded simply to hear I’d tried to make one. But, we ate it and were both “in Heaven”. Now she wants me to make it again.

I made this last Sunday and my family loved it. It was gone that day so none leftover for me the next day. LOL! Thank you for sharing! I’m trying another one of your recipes tonight.

  8. This is my husband’s favorite kind of pie, but I’ve never made it for him. Maybe tonight is the night.
