Vanilla Syrup

Maple syrup tends to be the go to syrup for breakfast dishes. However, why not mix things up and try this tasty vanilla syrup!

Instead of the flavor of maple you get that creamy flavor of vanilla. If I am having a party where I serve breakfast and I need syrup, I like to offer at least one other flavor syrup in addition to the standard maple. This is a perfect option.

This takes items that you should probably already have on hand at home. It’s all made in one sauce pan in about 10 minutes. It’s so simple to make, so why not make it? Then you do want it to cool some before serving.

The recipe is as simple as adding some sugar, water, and cornstarch together in a sauce pan. You bring it to a boil and cook it for 3-5 minutes until thickened. At this point, you remove it from the heat and mix in butter, salt, and vanilla. Allow to cool a little and serve on what ever you like – waffles, pancakes, French toast, etc.
