Buttermilk Syrup

I have been on the hunt for the perfect buttermilk syrup. I have made versions in the past but my family just didn’t like them, that is up until now.
Today, I am sharing what I have found to be the perfect buttermilk syrup. It is excellent to serve on the quick buttermilk waffles that I shared with you yesterday. My middle son is now officially addicted to this syrup.
It really is amazing on just about any breakfast item that requires syrup. I like it because it isn’t as sweet as regular syrup.
Again, you can use a buttermilk substitute for this but it just isn’t the same as using the real stuff. So, splurge and by the real stuff when making this. You won’t be disappointed.

Buttermilk Syrup
Real Mom Kitchen
Ingredients
- 1 cup sugar
- ½ cup buttermilk
- ½ cup butter
- 1 Tbsp corn syrup
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1 tsp vanilla
Instructions
- In a saucepan, add the sugar, buttermilk, butter, and corn syrup to a boil.
- Allow to boil for 6 minutes while stirring constantly.
- Remove from heat and stir in the baking soda and vanilla. Be careful because the baking soda will cause the mixture to bubble up. Stir until combined.
- Allow to cool to warm and serve over french toast, waffles, or pancakes.
