I have another simple treat for Valentine’s. The classic recipe for rice krispie treats gets a fun makeover just for Valentine’s Day with the addition of some red velvet cake mix and a drizzle of white chocolate on top. The cake mix gives these sweet Red Velvet Cake Krispie Treats their beautiful color along with some additional red velvet flavor.
You can just cut these easy treats into squares or use a metal heart cookie cutter for fun heart shapes. If you make the heart shapes, then you can eat all the scraps! I made some both ways to show you how they look.

To make these treats extra special, find a cute free printable online and print it out. Place each red velvet Rice Krispie Treat in a cellophane bag, tie it with a festive ribbon, and attach the printable for a thoughtful and personalized touch.

Instructions for Red Velvet Cake Krispie Treats
Prep the Pan: Start by spraying a 9×13 inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray. This will prevent the treats from sticking.
Melt the Marshmallows: In a large pot over medium-low heat, melt butter. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until they are completely melted and well combined with the butter.
Mix in the Cereal: Remove the large saucepan from the heat. Gradually add the Rice Krispies cereal to the melted marshmallow mixture, stirring constantly until all the cereal is evenly coated.
Press and Shape: Pour the sticky cereal mixture into the prepared pan. Use a piece of waxed paper or parchment paper to press the mixture evenly into the pan.
Cool Down: Allow the Rice Krispie Treats to cool completely in the pan.
Cut into Shapes: Once cooled, use a sharp knife to cut the treats into rectangles. For a festive touch, use a heart-shaped cookie cutter to cut out adorable heart-shaped treats.
Drizzle with Chocolate: Melt the white chocolate in a microwave-safe bowl in 20-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until smooth. Transfer the melted chocolate to a resealable zip top baggie. Snip a small corner off the bag to create a piping bag. Drizzle the melted white chocolate over the cooled treats in any desired pattern.
Let the Chocolate Set: Allow the chocolate drizzle to set completely before serving or storing.
