Today, I’m excited to show you how to create a personal dessert charcuterie box with chocolate dip. While you can use any sweet dip of your choice, I think chocolate is essential for Valentine’s Day. Its rich, indulgent flavor perfectly complements the romantic theme and adds an extra touch of sweetness to the occasion.
These dessert charcuterie boxes are also versatile and make great gifts for other special occasions like birthdays and anniversaries or just as a thoughtful treat to show someone you care. The possibilities are endless, and you can customize each box to suit the recipient’s tastes and preferences.

Now, this chocolate dip is a perfect chocolaty addition to the boxes. I love that it uses actual melted chocolate instead of cocoa powder. It also includes cream cheese, powdered sugar, whipped cream, and vanilla. It’s creamy, fluffy, and chocolaty! The recipe is included.
For the container, I used the same pink 5-inch disposable food boxes from Amazon that I used for the personal charcuterie boxes. They are also available in white, black, and brown. It’s $9.99 for a package of 20 boxes and includes twine to tie the boxes with. I used small disposable condiment cups to put the dip in.
Here are the other elements to include in your personal dessert charcuterie box, along with the sweet dip:
Fresh Fruit: Fresh fruit is a wonderful addition to any charcuterie box, adding vibrant color and natural sweetness. Berries, such as strawberries, blueberries, and raspberries, are excellent options. For this Valentine’s version, I chose strawberries. They not only bring a juicy, sweet flavor but also offer a refreshing contrast to the richer components of the box.
Cookies: Including some kind of cookie is essential. I found some small packages of Knott’s Berry Shortbread cookies with strawberry centers that were perfect for this theme. Other good options are graham crackers, Nilla wafers, Oreos, Chocolate Chip, or Nutter Butters. I prefer the mini versions, if available, because they fit nicely into the boxes and allow for more variety without taking up too much space.

Cake or Brownie: Adding pieces of cake or a brownie brings an indulgent element to the box. I purchased brownie bites from the grocery store for convenience. You can also make your own using a box mix and a mini muffin tin. Alternatively, bake a regular pan of brownies and cut the cake into squares, or use a small heart-shaped cookie cutter. Squares of pound cake or angel food cake work well too.
One Other Fun Item: This can be anything that adds a unique and enjoyable twist to your box. Mini cream puffs, candy, gummies, marshmallows, or pretzels are all great choices. For this Valentine’s box, I included strawberry-filled wafer cookies. I carefully cut them in half using a serrated knife to make them fit better. This adds an unexpected and delightful treat to the mix.
By incorporating these elements, your dessert charcuterie box will be a hit, offering a variety of textures and flavors that are sure to please anyone who receives it. After gathering all of my items together, I realized my box had a chocolate and strawberry theme to it. This is a perfect combination for Valentine’s!

Assembling the Boxes
These dessert charcuterie boxes can be assembled ahead of time! To ensure the best quality and freshness, store the assembled boxes in an airtight container in the refrigerator until you’re ready to gift them. This will help maintain the freshness of the ingredients. If possible, add the sweet dip to the condiment cups just before gifting to ensure it’s at its freshest.
To add a finishing touch to your charcuterie boxes, wrap the twine around each box and tie it neatly to secure them. Don’t forget to include a fun and personalized gift tag. I found a wonderful selection of free printable tags at Prudent Penny Pincher; the site offered a variety that complemented the pink box beautifully.
Feel free to explore other sources for more options, such as Pinterest, which has plenty of creative and unique gift tags for free. Personalizing your tags adds an extra layer of thoughtfulness and makes the gift even more special for the recipient.
