My Blogoversary and Delicious Brownies for a Crowd

Today is my two-year blogoversary, and we are celebrating with delicious brownies for a crowd. Can you believe it has been two years? So, since it is my blogoversary, we need a celebration, right? I want to thank all of you for being so awesome and helping make my blog what it is today.

Since I can’t have an actual party with you all, we are going to have a virtual party that is going to last the whole week.  If I could have you all over for an actual party, I would serve you a great spread of desserts.  Since we have to do this whole party thing virtually, you will just have to enjoy pictures with the recipe of the sweets I’d share.  It’s not quite as good as having the actual treats, but pretty darn close.  So all week will be sweet treats.

Now for today’s sweet treat.  It’s these delicious Brownies for a Crowd.  This recipe comes from a lady who lives in my area, and she is well-known for her brownies, sweet rolls, and dinner rolls.  Lucky for you and me, I have her brownie recipe.  Now the recipe makes a whole sheet pan of brownies, but if you don’t have a crowd to make these for, I am sure it would work just fine to half the recipe and put it in a 9×13 pan.  The other thing that is different about this recipe is that you make a normal chocolate frosting but then put it on the brownies while it is still hot. The frosting melts into a nice glaze-type topping on these fudgy brownies.  Can you say chocolaty delicious?  YUM!

Ingredients

  • 8 eggs
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 cups of butter melted (yes that is right 2 cups – remember these are for a crowd)
  • 1 ½ cups Hershey’s cocoa that is what her recipe says and that is what I used
  • 4 cups sugar
  • 4 tsp vanilla
  • 3 cups flour

Frosting:

  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • ½ cup butter softened
  • ½ cup cocoa
  • milk

Instructions

  • Beat eggs with a mixer in a large bowl. Then add sugar, salt, vanilla and beat for 1 minute.Add melted butter and blend. In another bowl, mix flour and cocoa with a whisk until well blended,Add flour mixture to egg mixture and mix until well combined.Spread onto a greased jelly roll pan (12 x 17) and bake at 350 degrees for 20-25 minutes. Cool for 15 minutes and spread with frosting.
  • For the frosting: Blend powdered sugar, butter, and cocoa along with enough milk to make the frosting a spreadable consistency. Spread over the brownies after they had cooled for 15 minutes. Keep spreading as the frosting melts making it nice and even on the brownies. Allow brownies to continue to cool. Makes 30 good sized brownies.

I found your site through a google search for a brownie recipe to fit into a 17 x 12 pan. Your’s was the only one that actually HAD the recipe. Thank you so much. Later this week, I would like to share on my blog as I will be making something Halloweenie out of these brownies. Would that be okay with you? I sure hope so! Please let me know. Thanks. 7. I made these and shipped to my Marine son stationed in Afghanistan. I cut into big bars so they wouldn’t dry out, wrapped each bar in wax paper, and sealed in glad storage containers. He just got them yesterday and his whole crew loved them! Im sharing with my Marine families!

  8. You sure know how to torture us diabetic types with a pi of that glorious brownie. Ah, nothing but a distant memory!

    1. I feel for you TJ, My husband is a recently diagnosed type 2 diabetic, and unfortunately was born with a “sweet tooth”, so avoiding things as delectable (& sweet) as these brownies has been really hard on him, so I know how you must feel

For a great Eureka Titan Family Tent Review

    2. I’m diabetic to, but have recently discovered a great sugar replacement that comes from a plant called Steevia. It’s unlike the other artificial ones like Sucralose, Splendor etc., that are actually derived from chemicals. This is about as natural as it gets, and tastes great. It sure kills the sugar cravings for me. It’s a bit tough to find still, but better supermarkets will have it.

I’ve made these a couple of times now. They’re great! Except the last time I made them. For a fireside. And forgot to actually put the 2 cups of butter IN the batter. I couldn’t figure out what was wrong with them–they tasted okay, just different–until I went to make the glaze and opened the microwave…there was the butter! Ha ha. I glazed them anyway and the next morning, the glaze wouldn’t stick to the brownies. Argh! Couldn’t take that to the fireside, so I traded family for some mixes for the fireside and we ended up enjoying the “ruined” batch SO much that evening. They were like fudge and so good with ice cream! 😀
also: the glaze stuck fine by that night. ha ha!
