Happy National Chili Dog Day! July is also National Hot Dog Month! According to the National Hot Dog and Sausage Council, Americans are expected to eat 7 billion hot dogs from Memorial Day to Labor Day. And during the month of July, 10 % of the annual retail hot dogs sales occur.
There are many ways to enjoy the infamous hot dog and one of my favorites happens to be the chili dog. Here are some of the ways I enjoy them.
Oven Dogs – I make mine using Hormel Chili with Beans.
Coney Dogs – This one is like a hot dog and sloppy joe combined.
Crock Pot Chili Dogs – This is excellent made with Hormel’s No Bean Chili. Â I must say this one is probably my favorite.
For even recipes to help you celebrate, check out these ideas from Hormel. Â I liked the idea of this Garden-Style Chili Dog! Â They have a great line of chili with a variety of choices.
The hot dog industry has been expanding over the past few years to include even more options for making your hot dog like Hormel’s Natural Choice Line which includes smoked sausages in original turkey, beef, and chicken.  The chicken is available in a variety of flavors including spinach asiago, apple gouda, and jalapeno cheddar. Hormel’s Natural Choice products are 100% natural and preservative free.
What is your favorite way to top your hot dog?

My daughter LOVES chili dogs! I like to put horseradish on my hotdogs. 🙂
Hi Laura,
We adore chili dogs. I could eat one every day and be happy! We always use Hormel chili w/o beans for our chili dogs. My husband loves mustard on his as well. We have to have diced onions or green onions and cheese-either shredded or Tostitos medium cheese sauce in a jar. Yummo!
