Green Smoothie

by Laura

Oranges, limes, bananas, coconut milk – all the makings for a delicious smoothie.  However, we are going to add a surprise ingredient to the smoothie that will give it added nutrition and green color.  The secret ingredient is a kale leaf!

Now you could use regular milk in place of the coconut milk if you prefer with no problem.  You also need to blend this smoothie well so you don’t end up with any undesirable clumps.

Green Smoothie

  • 1 lime, peeled and quartered
  • 1 orange, peeled and quartered
  • honey or agave to taste
  • 1 kale leaf
  • 1/2 cup coconut milk
  • 2 ripe bananas, frozen
  • ice, if needed

  1. Add the lime, orange, honey, kale and coconut milk. Blend until smooth. If needed, you can add water to get the blender going. You may need to stop the blender a few times and stir with a spoon too. All depends on how powerful you blender is.
  2. Add bananas one at a time, blending until smooth. Add additional ice if needed to reach desired thickness.

This sounds wonderfully healthy!! Does the kale have a strong flavour in the smoothie? I imagine with all the other stuff it blends nicely
