These Hawaiian Roll Meatball Sub Sandwiches are a quick and delicious way to enjoy a classic favorite with a twist. Juicy meatballs are smothered in marinara sauce, topped with melted cheese, and served on sweet, buttery Hawaiian rolls for the perfect balance of savory and sweet. Perfect for family dinners, parties, or game-day snacks, these mini sub sandwiches are easy to make and always a crowd-pleaser!
Divide the package of rolls into 4sections, leaving 3 of the rolls connected to make each sub. Cut out a smalltrench down the center of each sub. Place on a baking sheet.
Combine the melted butter with the garlic powder and Italian seasoning. Brush each of the sub rolls on top and inside the trench with the melted butter mixture.
Bake at 350 degrees for 5 minutes.
In the meantime, add the marinara sauce and meatballs to a saucepan. Warm over medium heat until heated through.
Fill the trench of each sub roll with 4 meatballs. Spoon any remaining sauce in the saucepan over the meatballs. Then sprinkle with some of the shredded cheese. Place back in the oven and cook for 5 more minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired for serving.
Notes
If making as sliders for an appetizer, you only need 12 meatballs. Cut a small circle out of the center of each of the rolls. Brush with butter and bake and listed above. Then fill each center of the roll with a meatball and sauce. Sprinkle with cheese and bae again as listed above.
