Ina bowlmix the water, yeast, and sugar together and let sit for 5- 10 minutes until yeast starts to foam. (I use my Kitchen Aid with my dough hook to make this.)
Mix in the salt and half the flour until combined. Then mix in the egg and oil.
Now add the remaining 3 cups of flour1 cup at a time. Mix together until dough is formed. Do not add too much flour or dough will be stiff. It is better for dough to be a little sticky.
Let dough raise for 1/2 hour. Make it into desired shape.The dough is quite stick so make sure you flour your work area good or spray it with non-stick cooking spray.
Then allow it to rise for 20 minutes more. Bake at 400 for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown. Once out of oven brush with butter while warm.This make 1 1/2 to 2 dozen rolls depending on how big you shape them. I like to make them the traditional round shape and I make 20 rolls.
