Sticky Fingers

by Laura

With the way economic times are right now, most households are making cut backs where ever they can. One of those areas to cut back on tends to be eating out. One place I love to eat out at is a restaurant called Winger’s (and have their Sticky Fingers). They have restaurants through out the U.S. but is mostly concentrated in the Western United States.

My absolute favorite thing to get there is their sticky fingers, which is basically breaded chicken fingers coated in Winger’s original amazing sauce. The sauce is basically like a spicy buffalo sauce. Then, it is served with ranch dressing.

A while back, I found a copy cat version of Winger’s sauce on Favorite Family Recipes. Lately, I had been craving those sticky fingers and remembered I had this recipe. I had to give it a try. It was perfect and very, very close to the original thing. Now I can have sticky finger’s at home when ever I get a craving for some! Delicious! Thanks to Erica for sharing this recipe.

Sticky Fingers – WInger’s Copy Cat Sauce

  • Author: Laura

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 Tbsp Franks Hot Sauce (It has to be Franks Hot Sauce… no other sauce will taste as good)
  • 3/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 Tbsp water
  • 8 cooked breaded chicken fingers

Instructions

Heat up hot sauce, brown sugar and water in a sauce pot until all the sugar dissolves ( I brought it to a boil and let it boil for a minute or two). That’s it. Brush sauce covers over chicken fingers.

Notes

You can use it to coat wings, popcorn chicken, etc. I used Tyson breaded chicken strips. You can get a big box of them at Sam’s Club or just get them at your local grocery store. Once you chicken is cooked pour sauce over or put chicken in a container with a lid, pour sauce over the chicken, cover with the lid and shake to coat chicken in the sauce.

How do you keep the sauce from turning grainy when it cools. Am I not cooking it long enough? Trying to using it as a dressing on salad with grilled chicken instead of breaded. HELP!!

I keep coming back to this recipe whenever we need an easy meal. We’ve starting breading our own chicken strips and Sticky Fingers were our lazy meal option was when we lived close to a Wingers. Now that we don’t, it isn’t much more effort to make at home and tastes the same. Thanks for the recipe!

I have a friend who worked at Winger's in college. He said the original sauce is just Frank Redhot and brown sugar- that's it! The creamy amazing dressing is just ranch dressing with the original sauce mixed in. We don't live in Utah anymore, and so I will be making the sauce from scratch from now on. Oh how I miss Winger's!!!

I LOVE sticky fingers! I have been buying the bottled sticky finger sauce for $6! I'm so excited to try this. When I make these, I do a salad, like the one they have at Wingers, with lettuce, cheese, tomatoes, craisins, sticker fingers and the amazing dressing (ranch & sticky finger sauce)SO GOOD! Love it!

Yum! I like that there is a sweet component to the sauce. I make one that is more like a Buffalo sauce with 4 T Franks, 4 T butter, 2 T vinegar and 2 tsp salt.

I think I will try yours for a party this weekend!
