Simple Spaghetti Sauce

Today’s meal is prepared all on the stove top.  This is a simple spaghetti sauce that I adapted from a friend of mine.  The original recipe was from her grandma.  This version includes 3 canned tomato items – crushed tomatoes, tomato sauce, and tomato soup.  The hardest part of this recipe is letting it simmer for 20 minutes.  However, that is what makes this sauce thicken and allows all those flavors to marry together.

I usually serve this simple spaghetti sauce over angel hair pasta.  My family likes that pasta better, plus it only takes a few minutes to cook. However, any cooked pasta will work. Feel free to use what you have on hand.

To make this sauce, brown your hamburger and onion in a large pot or deep skillet until fully cooked.  Drain off grease. Next you mix in crushed tomatoes, condensed tomato soup, tomato sauce, Worcestershire sauce, Italian seasoning, garlic, salt, and sugar. Bring it all to a simmer. Cover and simmer for 20 minutes, stirring occasionally.  Serve over your choice of cooked pasta. This recipe is easy enough that the kids can make it.

  12. sounds wonderful, I like the addition of tomato soup that is interesting, I will leave out the sugar tho, hubby doesn’t like even the slightest sweet in his sauce, I can’t wait to try this! I’m so excited for you and your cookbook!
