Chocolate – the majority of the population enjoys it. It can also be used in so many ways, just like in this Mexican Hot Chocolate.
Well today we can all rejoice with the celebration of #nationalchocolateday . However you choose to enjoy it, today is definitely a day to enjoy the amazing flavor of chocolate. I have a good collection for all of you in addition to this Mexican Hot Chocolate I made just for today.
Cinnamon adds a nice level of spice that pairs well with the chocolate. You can even add a pinch or two of cayenne pepper if you want to add a touch of heat. My family loves this straight up with the cinnamon.
- 2/3 cup hot water
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 1 (7 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
- 4 cups whole milk
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 8 oz bittersweet chocolate, chopped
- 1 stick cinnamon
- In a bowl, whisk hot water and cocoa together. Add the mixture to a slow cooker along with the condensed milk, milk, and ground cinnamon. Whisk together until blended.
- Add in the chopped chocolate and cinnamon stick. Cover and cook on low for 2 hours, giving it a stir every 30 minutes to help dissolve the chocolate. Makes 8 servings.
