Hamburger Bun Toasts

Today’s recipe for hamburger bun toasts is to go along side yesterday’s recipe for bacon cheeseburger soup.  I love this bread and it is so simple but is a nice change from a regular garlic bread.  I am not even a big mustard fan and I loved the flavor of this.  Plus it IS the perfect compliment to the cheeseburger soup. This one also originated from the lovely Paula Deen and below is my adaption of the recipe.

Here is what you need to make the

Hamburger Bun Toast

  • BUTTER
  • PREPARED MUSTARD
  • WORCESTERSHIRE SAUCE
  • GARLIC SALT
  • HAMBURGER BUNS
  • SWISS CHEESE
  • DRIED PARSLEY, OPTIONAL

Ingredients

  • 4 Tbsp melted butter
  • 1 Tbsp. prepared mustard
  • 1 tsp. Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 ½ tsp garlic salt
  • 4 hamburger buns split
  • 1 ½ cups shredded Swiss cheese
  • dried parsley optional

Instructions

  • In a bowl, combine melted butter, mustard, Worcestershire sauce, and garlic salt until well blended.  Allow to cool.  You want the butter mixture to stiffen up again to create a spread.
  • Spread butter mixture over cut side of buns and place on a baking sheet.
  • Top buns with shredded Swiss cheese followed by a sprinkle of dried parsley if desired.
  • Broil in the oven on the middle rack (this prevents burning).  Broil until cheese is melted and buns are lightly toasted (just a couple of minutes). Makes 8 servings.

  2. I have a question, is that really supposed to be 1 1/2 tsp of garlic salt? That seems to be way to much salt on top of the salt in the butter, worcestershire sauce and cheese. I made these tonight but used garlic powder and added a sprinkle of garlic salt and these were fantastic!!

  3. I love this because I always seem to have leftover hamburger buns that I don’t know what to do with!

  4. I am going to try both the soup and the buns soon. I make garlic-cheese toast with hamburger buns or the new sandwich thins all the time, but your recipe looks like a delicious variation. I also buy the sub type sandwich buns, cut them into quarters, put butter, seasonings and cheese on them for bread sticks. I like Spice Islands Garlic and Herb grater for this. This is very inexpensive as I can get the buns at the discount bread store for $1 a package and put them in the freezer, thawing out just the amount I need.
I found your blog last year and really enjoy your recipes. I think I have most of them saved on my computer. Have a great day.
