Fast and Easy Pizza Dough

After posting my recipe for quick pizza dough, I had several comments about the dough being a bit on the bland side. So, I ended up I looking through my files and found another quick pizza dough that has some added ingredients that would give it some flavor. This fast and easy dough happens to come from My Kitchen Café, one of my favorite sites. So I knew it was going to be good and decided to give it a try.

This dough has the addition of some honey and garlic salt. The honey adds just the right amount of sweetness to the dough. I personally couldn’t really taste the garlic in there. So next time I think I’ll up it to 1 tsp and give that a try. If you liked the other dough, but want more flavor, give this one a try. You could even mix in a little Italian seasoning for even more flavor. Top this pizza dough with with my recipe for homemade pizza sauce or white pizza sauce. Both are delicious and are what I like to use.

Fast and Easy Pizza Dough

  • Author: Laura

Ingredients

Units Scale
  • 3 cups flour, more or less
  • 1 Tbsp honey, heaping
  • 1 Tbsp oil, heaping
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 Tbsp yeast
  • 1/2 tsp garlic salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 475 degrees. (If using a pizza stone, let stone heat for at least 30 minutes in the oven before baking pizza.)
  2. Mix all pizza dough ingredients together, except the flour. Add flour and knead for a bit then put into pan (or use a pizza peel and pizza stone).
  3. Top dough with sauce and toppings. If baking in a sheet pan, bake for about 12 minutes (checking often) until crust is browned and cheese is golden and bubbly. If baking on the preheated pizza stone, slide pizza onto stone and bake for about 8 minutes. Makes 1 large pizza.

Love this. I use it as a bases and tweak it…a lot. I use a chili and garlic flavoured oil and parm cheese in the mix. Then lots of different seasonings on the crust before I stuff the edges with mozz cheese. yummy!

I tried this dough and it was really hard to roll out into a circle. When I baked it it came out really thick. Do you have suggestions? I love the pizza sauce recipe you have posted.

Thanks for the advice. I'm not sure what is up with my oven. It is only a couple years old so it shouldn't be petering out on me yet! Maybe it is the operator? LOL! I usually do a crust that I make in the bread machine. When I do that one I usually start by baking the crust a little first, then adding the toppings. Maybe I just need to do that with this too.

Megan,
I don't cook the dough at all before putting the toppings on. I am not sure what happened with yours. From what your are saying it sounds like the top of your oven was hotter than the bottom. But I'm not sure why. Next time try to cook it at a lower temperature for longer or maybe try to do individual sized pizzas.

Do you cook the dough a little while on the pan first, before you add the toppings? Just wondering because I just made this tonight and the top was burnt to an total crisp and the dough middle section of the crust was just barely cooked through. I ended up tossing both of my pizzas:(

Hmmm…Just wondering…Do I need to allow time to let the dough rise?
