If you are a fan of Taco Bell’s Beef and Bean Combo Burritos, then you should enjoy today’s post. I found this recipe posted by Carrie over at Cooking with Carrie. Now, I myself have never had Taco Bell’s Beefy Bean Burritos. However, according to Carrie, this copy cat version really does taste like the real thing.
The only problem I had with this recipe was there was too much garlic in it. And we are a garlic loving family. So I altered the recipe from 1/2 Tbsp garlic powder to 1 tsp. If you love the Taco Bell version give it a try. Then, let me know if it comes close to the original. And if you haven’t had the Taco Bell version like me, try these beefy bean burritos anyway.
It is a simple, inexpensive and quick dinner. You can make this probably just as fast as driving to get take out, waiting for your order, and then driving back home. These babies are ready in about 15 minutes. Plus, you could serve them along with tortilla chips and the Black Bean and Pineapple Salsa recipe from yesterday.
Beefy Bean Burritos
Ingredients
- 1 lb ground beef
- 1 ( 16 oz) can refried beans
- 2/3 cup enchilada sauce
- 1/2 Tbsp chili powder
- 1 tsp garlic powder
- 1 1/2 cups shredded colby/jack cheese
- 10 large flour tortillas
Instructions
- Brown and drain meat.
- Add all remaining ingredients, except tortillas. Stir the mixture and heat to a simmer/boil.
- Put about 1/2 cup of the mixture in each flour tortilla, fold the tortillas into burritos, and serve. (Store the extra burritos in a Ziploc in the refrigerator. To reheat the cold burritos microwave them for 30 seconds, flip, 30 seconds.)

This is excellent! I love Taco Bell Combo Burritos. I did the recipe as written but swapped ground Turkey for beef and used a low carb tortilla. I also had leftover homemade refried beans so I used that instead of canned. Soooo good. 😋 I don’t have to go to Taco Bell now and I can control the ingredients to make them healthier. Thank you so much!

These look and sound delicous. Whay type of enchilada sauce did you use, red or green?

Mmmm, we made this today and it was yummy. I did some alterations, as we don’t have enchilada sauce over here, and I put part of the cheese on top of the topping and then wrapped it up, as I really, really love melted cheese.
I do have one question about the chili powder. Where I live, we have two different things labeled as chili powder. One is pure chili powder and its spicy like hell, the other is a spice combo, made of chilis, paprika, cumin, salt, garlic powder, pepper and cayenne pepper. I used the latter, as the pure thing would be too much heat for me. What is in the powder you used?

I am so glad I tried making these. My husband LOVES this recipe so much. We are now having these once a week and they are so easy and delicious to make. Thanks for passing on such a quick recipe.

I made these the other day for my son and I and he LOVED them! And I have a bunch left over for the upcoming week. This will be a great goto recipe for a quick kid friendly meal or snack.

These look great! Thanks so much for posting – i’ll definitely try them. And thanks for your thoughts around the garlic, too!

Because it still tasted too strong. It is probably because it was garlic powder. It may mellow out after the burritos sit, but right out of the pan it was too much.

If you are a garlic loving family why did you reduce the amount of garlic in the burritos?

My problem with the Taco bell version has to do with the tortilla. It is too thick!
