I can hardly believe it’s February already – time seems to be flying! With Valentine’s Day just around the corner, it’s the perfect opportunity for an extended celebration. Why not kick off the festivities with a special Valentine’s breakfast featuring these delectable weekday chocolate waffles?

While I typically reserve chocolate waffles for special occasions, I recently adapted one of my favorite waffle recipes. I ended up creating this delightful chocolate version. The best part? This weekday chocolate waffle recipe is incredibly simple, eliminating the need to whip egg whites, making it an easy choice for any day of the week.

Weekday Chocolate Waffles

Ingredients
  

  • cups flour
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • tsp baking powder
  • pinch of salt
  • 3 Tbsp sugar
  • cups milk
  • 2 eggs
  • ½ tsp vanilla
  • 3 Tbsp butter *see note

Instructions
 

  • In a bowl, whisk together the flour,cocoa powder, baking powder, salt and sugar.
  • In another bowl, whisk together the milk eggs and vanilla.
  • Add the flour mixture to the egg mixture and whisk together just until combined. Then stir in the melted butter.
  • Cook batter according to your waffle maker instructions. I use ½ batter for my regular waffle iron and 1 cup for my Belgian waffle maker. Makes 6 regular waffles or 3 Belgian waffles.

Notes

*canola oil can be used as a substitute for butter
