This teriyaki chicken marinade is an easy way to make flavorful grilled chicken with a perfect balance of sweet and savory. Soy sauce, fresh ginger, garlic, maple syrup, green onion, and rice vinegar come together to create a classic teriyaki-inspired flavor. It is great for meal prep, freezer meals, and easy summer dinners served on its own or added to salads and bowls.
In a gallon-sized freezer bag, add all of the ingredients except the chicken. Whisk everything together.
Add in the chicken, remove as much air as possible, and seal the bag. Knead the chicken in the bag to coat it in the marinade.
If meal prepping, place in the freezer until ready to use. Take out 24 hours before grilling. Place on a dish in the fridge to thaw. Once thawed, discard marinade and grill until chicken is fully cooked.
If using right after making, place in the fridge to marinate for a minimum of 2 hours or up to 24 hours. The longer the better for flavor. Discard the marinade and grill the chicken until fully cooked. Serves 4.
