This smoked cream cheese is an easy appetizer made with just a few ingredients and plenty of smoky flavor. Seasoned cream cheese is smoked until soft and creamy, then can be served as is or mixed with finely chopped peppers for an even more flavorful spread. It is a simple snack or party appetizer that is delicious with crackers, bread, or fresh vegetables.
2TbspBBQ rub or seasoning mix, We like Meat Church's The Gospel seasoning
2mini peppersfinely diced (optional)
Instructions
Preheat your smoker to 225°F.
Coat the cream cheese block with a layer of olive oil. I have a spray bottle I put olive oil in. So I use that to help get the oil on the cream cheese. Then apply the BBQ dry rub on all sides, patting it gently.
Using a sharp knife, score the top of the cream cheese in a cross-hatch pattern.
Place the prepared cream cheese in an aluminum pan or make a little foil boat out of heavy-duty aluminum foil. Smoke at 225°F for 1-2 hours, depending on your desired level of smokiness. We do ours for 2 hours.
Remove the smoked cream cheese from the smoker. At this point, you can serve it with crackers, bread, or veggies. Or take it a step further by mixing the cheese with the chopped peppers and serve.
