Slow Cooked Dr. Pepper Pulled Pork is a tender and flavorful dish made by slow-cooking pork roast with Dr. Pepper, barbecue sauce, and seasonings. The soda not only adds a sweet and tangy flavor but also helps to tenderize the meat, making it easy to shred. Perfect for sandwiches or sliders, this recipe is a crowd-pleaser for gatherings or weeknight dinners!
In a bowl, combine onion powder, garlic powder, and salt. Coat each piece of pork generously with this seasoning mixture.
Place the pieces of roast into the slow cooker. If using liquid smoke, sprinkle over the pieces of roast.
Pour Dr. Pepper soda around the pork until it’s almost submerged in the liquid.
Pour the BBQ sauce over the top of the pork covering it evenly .
Cover the slow cooker with the lid. Cook on low for 8-10 hours or on high for 4-6 hours. The pork should be tender and easily shredded when done.
Remove the pork from the slow cooker and transfer it to a separate dish. Use two forks to shred the pork into bite-sized pieces, discarding any excess fat.
Mix the pork with some of cooking liquid to keep it moist and flavorful.
Serve with additional bbq sauce on the side.
