In a large bowl, combine the waffle mix, water, sour cream, oil, eggs,and lemon zest together until mostly smooth.
Pour amount of batter required for your waffle maker batter into the waffle maker. Mine uses 1/2 cup batter. Cook waffles to your liking. Remove from iron and repeat cooking more waffles until no batter remains.
Serve waffles topped with fresh berries, syrup, and whipped cream to serve. Makes approximately 10 waffles.
