Snowman and Reindeer Mini Donuts

by Laura

Today is the last day of Christmas week here and RMK! And what I am sharing isn’t necessarily a recipe in the tradition sense, but I am still sharing it it recipe form. It’s more of an edible food craft. These snowman and reindeer mini donuts are something kids will love to eat, but you could even get the kids to make them.

They would be great to include as part of a menu for a kids Christmas party. The snowman donuts would also be awesome to serve at a snowman or frozen party too. They could be used as a place card at a party. Just add a rectangle of paper with a name off to the side on them under the donuts. The possibilities are endless.

However, making these can be an activity at you class party at school or kids Christmas party at home! Or just have the kids made them on a snowy Saturday just for fun! Now matter what you have these snowman and reindeer mini donuts for, they will be a hit with the kids.

We all know that milk goes so perfectly with donuts.

So, I also have a shout out today for a great cause – Cookies for Santa’s Milk Drive.

#Santasmilkdrive

Did you know that milk is one of the most requested items at food banks, yet it is rarely donated? So, the entire dairy industry from dairy farmers to dairy processors have come together and joined with Feeding America food banks to help get milk to those who need it most.

If you are in the Salt Lake City area, tomorrow Saturday, Dec 6 from 1 pm – 4pm at the West Jordan at the Brand New Smiths Marketplace at 5600W 7800S , the drive will be handing out cookies and egg nog and encouraging people to donate gallons of milk to the Utah Food Bank.

#Santasmilkdrive

If you aren’t local or can’t make it to the event at Smith’s, visit santasmilkdrive.com to donate. Just think if we all donate 1 gallon of milk, how much that can help!

The cool part is when you to the site to donate, simply type in your zip code and the donation you make will be distributed to a food bank in your own area, so your good will is doing good in your very own community!

Snowman Mini Donuts

Ingredients

Scale
  • 20 mini powder sugar coated mini donuts (I used an 11.5 oz bag of Hostess Donettes)
  • a tube of black icing or gel
  • 20 orange candies that resemble a carrot (I used candy corn I got from a Autumn mix that have a white base but the remainder is orange. Other options could be orange jelly beans or candy orange slices cut into pieces. You can even use a orange peanut M&M or regular orange M&M. The regular M&M just won’t give you that 3 dimensional look)

Instructions

  1. Take a mini donut.
  2. Place a dots of black frosting on the donut to create the snowman’s eyes. Then place 4-5 dots of black frosting on the donut to create the snowman’s mouth
  3. Then place a orange candy corn in the center of the donut to create the snowman’s nose. Repeat this process until all reindeer are completed or do it assembly line style and complete them all at once. Makes 20 Snowman Mini Donuts.
