Pineapple Mango Smoothie

by Laura

I love to start my day off with a smoothie just like this Pineapple Mango Smoothie.  Something about that fresh fruit flavor that wakes up my taste buds, which in turn helps wake up all of my other senses.  The addition of yogurt gives my body the protein it needs and helps my stomach feel satisfied.

Pineapple is one of my favorite fruits to include in a smoothie and this one uses pineapple along with some mango – both of which are just frozen.  This makes it easy to make at any time.  If you have fresh fruit, by all means use it but you will just need to add some ice to add thickness.  I am also wondering how coconut milk would taste in place of the milk.

The tropical flavors of this smoothie also help me get out of the winter blues.  Turn on some tropical music and close your eyes while you sip this – imagine you are laying on a warm beach catching some rays.  It is amazing how food can help take you to a place when you need it.  Mix up this smoothie and escape to your own tropical paradise.

Just bought pineapples and mangos on sale. Have never made a smoothie, but thought yogurt was involved, so bought strawberry yogurt. Do I just need to add Ice if making with fresh fruit?

I used frozen pineapple and mango, 1/3 cup coconut milk, plain greek yoghurt with a touch of almond extract and enough 2% milk for it to pour. No added sugar and high protein. Delicious!

Did you know that pineapples are the only apples that aren’t apples.
