Get to Know your Neighbor S’more

I was excited to be asked by The Motherhood and Hershey’s to be Camp Counselor as part of their summer celebration with Camp Bonfire. I was asked plan a get together with the theme Block Party BBQ and incorporate S’mores into the party. Who doesn’t love S’mores in the summer? I planned a party for some of my neighbors and decided to call it a Get to Know Your Neighbor S’more night.
I even put together a pinterest page of inspiration for my party. The whole theme of our party was S’mores and we wanted to just allow everyone to have time to visit and play.
As part of the night, I had s’mores coloring pages for the little ones that I found online. Plus, we had a marshmallow stacking contest and a s’mores card game that I found for everyone else. Then for the food we had s’mores but not just regular old s’mores. We took it to the next level with a s’mores bar. I had chocolate, cinnamon, and regular graham crackers along with strawberry, toasted coconut, jumbo, and regular marshmallows.
Now for the chocolate!
We used Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups, Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bars, Symphony Bars, and Hershey’s Cookies and Cream Bars. Everyone enjoyed creating different combinations. I loved the chocolate graham with the cookies and cream bar and strawberry marshmallow. The cinnamon graham with Symphony Bar and toasted coconut marshmallow was a close second for me. The kids tended to stay with the classic s’more.
We had a great time chatting and catching up with each other.
We kept track of how many marshmallows ended up catching on fire (due to overly eager kids roasting them). Also, we laughed as the kids got messy with their S’mores. It’s so important to be friendly with your neighbors and to set a good example for the kids. Also, it give them a set of friends to play with and interact with at school. Overall, it was a great experience and the perfect way to enjoy the final weeks of summer! Why not have your own end of summer s’more bash?
