I love soups so much that they earn their very own category every year—completely separate from my best main dish recipes. Soup is a full meal in my book. It’s cozy, nourishing, and usually packed with veggies, noodles, and a good source of protein. This year’s top picks include three chicken‑based soups and one hearty beef option, each one comforting in its own way.
Soup has always been one of my comfort foods, and I love how each recipe carries its own personality. Some are cozy and creamy, others are hearty and bold, and all of them make dinnertime feel a little more special. This year’s favorites each have their own story, starting with one inspired by my childhood.

#1
First up is the recipe inspired by one of my childhood favorites. Growing up, stroganoff was my absolute favorite dinner, so creating a Beef Stroganoff Soup felt like a natural evolution. It has all the classic flavors you’d expect—tender beef, savory mushrooms, and that creamy tang—but with a saucier, slurp‑worthy twist that transforms it into a satisfying soup version of the beloved dish.

#2
Next is my take on one of my all‑time favorite Olive Garden soups: Chicken and Gnocchi Soup. Thanks to the Instant Pot, this restaurant classic becomes incredibly easy to make at home. It’s rich, creamy, and loaded with tender chicken, pillowy gnocchi, and fresh spinach. Best of all, it’s ready in just 30 minutes, making it perfect for busy weeknights.

#3
Third on the list is a flavorful Chicken Taco Soup, another Instant Pot winner. It comes together in just 25 minutes and is packed with protein and veggies. It’s also a 0‑point recipe on Weight Watchers, making it a fantastic option if you’re looking to kick off the New Year with lighter, healthier meals without sacrificing flavor.

#4
Finally, we have hearty Chicken Corn Chowder. This cozy bowl is filled with tender vegetables, sweet corn, and a creamy, comforting base that makes every spoonful feel like a warm hug. The recipe calls for cooked chicken, but it’s also the perfect way to use up leftover chicken or turkey—ideal after the holidays when you’re looking for creative ways to repurpose extras.
