Ice cream and summer go hand-in-hand. I have always related summer with homemade ice cream. Growing up we usually got our first taste of summer on Father’s Day. My dad was a big fan of homemade ice cream so it was only fitting to serve it that day. We always had my grandma’s secret recipe that is only shared within the family.

July is just around the corner and did you know that July is national ice cream month? It was established in 1984 by President Ronald Reagan along with the 3rd Sunday in July as National Ice Cream Day. Well, to get you all ready to celebrate ice cream month I have a great giveaway for you. I was even able to sample some of the tasty recipes in her book when she was working on it. On of my favorites was her brown sugar ice cream. I even sample some of her unique flavors like maple bacon and serendipity – an ice cream made with corn. Those both were surprisingly tasty.
