Holiday Nostalgia with a Modern Tech Twist Giveaway

by Laura

VTech is fusing the best of nostalgia with the convenience of modern technology with their retro phone! It’s holiday nostalgia with a modern tech twist. The phone looks similar to one I had in my home while growing up, but without the bulky receiver and cord.  We had put an extra long cord on ours that was at least 5 feet long!  So funny to see how far things have come.  This retro phone with it’s rotary-inspired keypad gives you all that you would expect from a cordless phone but with that retro feel:

  • Caller ID/Call Waiting
  • Handset and base speakerphones
  • ECO mode power-conserving technology
  • Quiet Mode (love this!)
  • DECT 6.0 Digital technology
  • With up to 14 minutes of recording time
VTech has provided a gift basket to giveaway including their Retro Phone to one lucky RMK reader.

Each item in the basket has a retro feel with an updated twist. So, it will help warm your holiday season with memories past while creating new memories with friends and families. The basket includes:

  • VTech Retro Phone
  • Handmade Holiday Cards
  • Hot Chocolate & Marshmallows Set
  • Yuletide Mugs
  • Harvest Blend Diamond Candle
  • Microwave Glass Popcorn Popper
  • Holiday Rocker Cookie Cutters
  • Sisters Gourmet Cookie Jar Mix
  • LCD Digital Photo Frame
  • Red Polka Dot Fabric Storage Box

To enter, leave a comment on this post about something you remember from your past.

What makes you get nostalgic?  Or what retro item today reminds you of your childhood?  You have until Wednesday Dec 12 at midnight (MST) to enter.  I will announce the winner at the bottom of this post following the entry deadline. Contest is open to US Residents only. Contest is now closed.

Love the phone! It definitely takes me back to when I was young and makes me think of the phones we had then. I really can’t think of much that I see today that looks the same as it did in the past.I wish more stuff did remind me of the past. The things I can think of are old cars that some still drive, some of the old board/card games, old music and videos, and of course favorite recipes/food.

The little cardboard snowman that was painted and glittered, he had a Mrs too. Only about 4 ” tall I played with them for hours. I still have them, thinks are tattered and chipped. I believe that’s why I’m a snowman lover today 🙂

Christina M. December 9, 2012 - 9:45 am

That is so awesome! I totally remember our phones with the extra long cord that you could go all around the house while being on the phone! It would always get all twisted and tangled after you returned it to the cradle to hang it up. That was really great! I kinda miss that but at the same time it is nice to be anywhere and be able to answer a cell phone or walk around without the cord at home. It does bring back great phone conversations I had with friends that lasted for hours at a time sometimes. Oh the days!

Dezi A December 9, 2012 - 8:06 am

I love seeing toys come out that are just updated versions of what I used to love. Care bears. Strawberry Shortcake. Although I haven’t seen any updated Rainbow Bright…

I remember my grandmother had a coral pink rotary phone when I was a kid and we all thought it was the coolest thing.

Cathy Jeppsen December 8, 2012 - 10:24 am

When I was a kid we had one of those phones on our wall that looked like the first phones. You listened to the other person through a thing you held to your ear and talked into the phone hanging on the wall. It was pretty funny. I laugh to think what my kids would think to see something like that today! 🙂

Maralea December 8, 2012 - 10:21 am

I remember the rotary dial phones! My grandma and grandpa used to even share a phone line with their neighbor!

Marty December 8, 2012 - 10:14 am

I really *LOVE* all things retro, so this is super cool! I was just thinking the other day of how much Christmas tree tinsel reminds me of being little, and makes me nostalgic. Not that it isn’t made these days, but it seems to me not many people use it anymore. I remember how much I loved helping my mom put all that shiny goodness on the tree! I was debating whether to get it (my household isn’t very tinsel friendly, with a cat and three kids under 5!), and I’m kind of leaning towards getting some. It’s been years since I’ve had any on a Christmas tree so I think it’s time!

Lisa C. December 8, 2012 - 8:51 am

I remember the Elf from Elf on a Shelf when I was a kid. I think he is cute, but my kids think he is really creepy.
