Frito Lay Giveaway

by Laura

Did you know that Frito-Lay has a state of the art culinary center with world class talent, that provides inspiration behind frito-lays products including naturally made products?  It’s called The Flavor Kitchen.  The chefs in The Flavor Kitchen craft culinary-based snack experiences, that result in high-quality, delicious tasting snack foods.   Thanks to the Flavor Kitchen chefs working side by side with the Frito-Lay Innovation and Seasoning teams, many of your favorite Frito-Lay products are now made with all natural ingredients.  Yep that’s right, ALL NATURAL INGREDIENTS!

About half of the Frito-Lay salty snack portfolio will be made with all-natural ingredients starting this year.  They have the highest quality standards and use the best ingredients.
They also have a new series of cooking shows “The Flavor Kitchen” where their chefs teach busy families like you and me, how to solve their toughest food and family conundrums in fun and easy ways.  You can see the webisodes on the Frito-Lay Facebook page (www.facebook.com/FritoLay).
They also have working mother of two, food expert and host of Bringing It Home with Laura McIntosh, Laura (Love her name!) McIntosh involved.  She will provide meal solutions for busy moms in a special web series with Frito-Lay, which kicks-off  this weekend with 4 episodes based on NFL team chefs participating at this year’s Taste of the NFL.

Throughout the web series (which will continue throughout the Spring and Summer), Laura will lead the audience from everyday domestic settings straight to the Frito-Lay Flavor Kitchen, where the Frito-Lay team, headed by Chef Stephen Kalil, works to create ideas and solutions for busy families for those times of the year that affect the standard household the most, such as back-to-school, the holidays, or summer vacation.
In one webisode per week—covering everything from comfort foods during the winter season to feeding slumber party guests and putting together a late-night date meal with the same ingredients—Laura, alongside the Frito-Lay Flavor Kitchen chefs, will offer tips ranging from creating all natural and quick meals, to eating on the run, and which ingredients are best to use in which season.  Doesn’t that sound great?
The Flavor Kitchen
Did you know that your favorite Lays, Sunchips and Tostitos chips are made with real, natural ingredients?   It all starts in the Frito-Lay Flavor Kitchen in Plano, Texas.  They use real potatoes, corn and wheat from our farmers.  They slice and cook them in heart healthy oils.  Then they add flavor!   Their chefs take inspiration from real ingredients and recipes.  It might be fresh garden tomatoes or a homemade Barbeque sandwich.  They play with all kinds of combinations of ingredients, until they’ve cooked up the most delicious new flavor of corn, potato or multi-grain chip!  And Voila!  They cook and deliver fresh batches of those chips straight to your local supermarket shelf.  Straight from their kitchen to ours.  They make it natural, we make it fun.

What does Natural mean?
1) No artificial ingredients
2) No synthetic colors or dyes
3) No artificial preservatives and no MSG
4) Only non-hydrogenated, “heart healthy” oils
-Starting in the Frito-Lay Flavor Kitchen – Frito Lay chefs develop flavors and recipes that deliver unbelievable flavor, often using just natural ingredients.
-From the men and women that grow and purchase their natural ingredients and seasonings to the dedicated employees who make them into delicious chips and deliver them to each store, Frito-Lay is committed to providing a product that people love and feel great about.
-Starting in 2011 it will be easier to locate snacks made with all natural ingredients with in-store signs and a clear, easy-to-read stamp right on the packaging
-Frito Lay bags bearing a “Made with All Natural Ingredients” stamp will not contain any MSG, artificial colors, artificial flavors, or artificial preservatives.
-On March 26th – Frito Lay will give away sample bags at Walmart so millions of Americans can enjoy the delicious taste of all-natural ingredients,

Now on to the giveaway part! I get to give 20 of you bags of Frito-Lays new Garden Tomato and Basil Chips.  I love tomato and basil and think this chip will be fun to try out.  To enter, leave a comment on the post telling me which recipe on the 4 episodes with Laura McIntosh you want to try.  You have until Wednesday February 9 at 10 pm (MST) to enter.

I was going to say the southwest black bean dip, but then they put shrimp in it – my husband does NOT do shrimp. So, I’d either do the dip sans the shrimp, or the pita chip tuna melts sans the capers.
