Awesome Steak Marinade

by Laura

I found this marinade recipe over at My Kitchen Cafe. It’s actually called Brian’s Awesome Steak Marinade, but I felt a little strange using his name when I don’t know him. Hence the shortened name Awesome Steak Marinade. Typically when I marinade steak, I use more of a savory version. This one is a more sweet teriyaki type marinade and was a nice change. We grilled it up along with some pineapple rings (I used the pineapple juice from here. I love grilled pineapple. The steak was easy and yummy! Loved it.

Awesome Steak Marinade

1 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
1/2 cup pineapple juice
3 garlic cloves crushed or finely minced
Combine all ingredients thoroughly and use as marinade. If marinading steaks, marinade the meat overnight (about 12-14 hours) before grilling.

This sounds like the marinade they use on their sirloin at the Carolina Roadhouse in Myrtle Beach, SC. It is one of the best steaks I’ve ever eaten out. Grilled ‘Pittsburgh’ style, a crusted exterior and center to choice. I cant wait to try this marinade. Thanks for posting.

We cut the recipe in half just to taste it, and not waste ingrediants. It was AMAZING! Very very good. We substituded the apple cider for balsalmic vinegar and pineapple juice for lemon juice. YUM YUM YUM!

I used this marinade on flank steak for tonight’s dinner and it came out fantastic! I did however substitute the apple cider vinegar for balsamic vinegar and put some fresh lime juice. Marinated the meat for 5 hours, then grilled it in medium rare. Sliced it thinly against the grain and served hot over an iceberg lettuce salad. Good stuff. Thanks lots for this!

Laura – your intro made me laugh. I don’t blame you for not wanting to use Brian’s name – a little personal without actually knowing him (although he would be flattered). The marinade is awesome and that title is appropriate, too! Glad you liked it.

Oh,yeah! This sounds good. Wonder if I have any steak in the freezer; will have to check. If not, bet it would be good on chicken too!

Please don’t ever freeze steak. It will keep much longer than you think in the fridge.
