Apple Smothered Pork Chops – Flashback Friday

by Laura

While growing up, pork chops or pork roast paired with applesauce was something my mom would make. I loved the combination just like in this recipe for apple smothered pork chops. That sweet flavor of the apple tastes so delicious when eaten with savory pork.

This combination also always reminds me of Peter Brady. On an episode of the Brady Bunch, Alice was making “pork chops and applesauce” for dinner. Anytime I make pork paired with apples, I can hear Peter using a Humphrey Bogart voice saying “pork chops and applesauce”. That is how he said it in the episode.

Well, this apple smothered pork chops recipe is one I shared way back when and it is something my family has been enjoying for many years. The sweet and savory flavors of this dish are wonderful. You really need to give this one a try if you haven’t before.
